Step 1: Choose a Template

This is Part 1 of our tutorial, Build Your First World on Agora. To read our introduction, click here!

In this tutorial, we will be building an art gallery for Sunny Side Collections, a (fictional) art creator, collector and reseller. We will be creating a branded gallery that helps Sunny Side show off and sell their pieces, as well as engage their community through a social experience.

To get started, enter the Agora app on your computer (or download it here) and sign in to your account. Then, click Create on the app's main menu to start building an experience.

Note: The first two sections of this tutorial are not required to create a custom world. If you would like to skip straight to world customization, click Create -> Choose world template Agora Gallery -> Press Next -> Go to Step 3 - Customize Your World.

Choose a Template

The first step in creating a choosing a custom world is choosing your template. Under "Official Worlds", you will see a row of Agora-created world templates, each designed for a different use case and containing a different amount of slots for media.

Click the left and right arrows to navigate through all of the available world templates:

After you click on a world, a page will pop up with more information about the template.

The most important information on this page is the description of the world and common use cases, and the number of Media Slots, or placeholders for images and videos in the space.

Don't worry about Booth Slots or File Size. Booths are only recommended for use in Job Fairs and Career Fairs (and only appear in one template), and file size is not a concern since this data is deleted from visitors' computers once they leave an experience.

You also will see a section for My Worlds. This is where your custom worlds go once they are uploaded - for example, a 3D scan of your company HQ or a custom beach-themed world. If you would like to inquire about using a custom space in Agora, contact us here.

Our Selection

For this tutorial, we will be using the Agora Gallery world template. Click on this world and press Select to make it official!

Next: Go to Step 2 - Add World Information
